Children of the Monkey Machine
Children of the Monkey Machine (often written CotMM) is an artist from Sumter, South Carolina who primarily composes video game remixes, however also produces original ambient, industrial, and experimental tracks.
To date, Children of the Monkey Machine has released two full albums of original material, R'lyeh and Septic Dreams, and a special two-track album dedicated to his daughter, produced from audio renderings of manipulated prenatal ultrasound data.
Children of the Monkey Machine consists of a single member, Matthew Newman, who began writing music in 1998 while in high school. Shortly there after R'lyeh was released, produced entirely in the wave-editing program "Cool Edit '96" on a 200Mhz Pentium Pro machine. This was released originally on the then-new MP3.com to a very limited audience.
After discovering Overclocked Remix, CotMM began writing video game remixes and then in the fall of 2000 began Septic Dreams. Working off and on, it was not completed until 2004.
